It has been confirmed that Raith’s Bobby Barr will be sidelined for up to two months because of a knee injury.
The 28-year-old winger was hurt during the win over Falkirk two Saturdays ago after he was caught in a tackle.
Barr was subsequently sent for a scan and then saw a specialist on Monday with his boss Gary Locke now resigned to being without the player for the next few weeks.
The manager said: “Bobby has bone bruising and he will be out for between four and eight weeks.
“It is a big blow for us and Bobby.”
Barr missed his side’s win over Queen of the South on Saturday with the victory taking Rovers up to third in the Championship table.
The result means that Rovers now sit on the 20-point mark after 11 games.
Despite that impressive haul, Locke’s men sit just six ahead of Ayr back in seventh and the manager admits he will wait until the festive season before fully assessing how he sees the campaign panning out.
He said: “When you look at the teams down the bottom, there’s not a big gap. All they need to do is win two or three games and they’re right back in the mix.
“I think you get a better idea round about Christmas time as to how the league’s going to pan out.
“But certainly so far, every team we’ve faced, if you’re not at it then they’re capable of beating you.
“It’s really, really competitive and really tight and if you’re not at it every week then you can find yourself quickly in the bottom five.
“So we need to make sure we keep doing what we’re doing. Getting good results breeds confidence and hopefully we can keep it going.”
Meanwhile, Hearts have recalled Liam Smith after his brief loan spell with Rovers.
