Edinburgh City have already enjoyed two rewarding trips to Angus in the last few days, drawing with pacesetters Forfar in the league and then knocking them out of the Scottish Cup.
But Montrose boss Paul Hegarty is determined to make sure that it isn’t a hat-trick.
Hegarty watched the first of the Station Park matches with his assistant John Holt and the City performance showed them that today’s Links Park opponents are starting to get “streetwise” in SPFL football.
“They have definitely improved since we played them earlier in the season,” Hegarty said.
“They had a good shape and could have won the match we watched.
“They’re on the up and are much more streetwise.”
It’s been a stop-start few weeks for Montrose, with last Saturday’s match postponed.
They’ve got two games in four days now though.
“You’d obviously rather have points on the board than be playing catch-up, “ Hegarty said.
“But we’ll be looking to build on a good performance in the Scottish Cup.
“Out of our last five games we’ve won three and drawn one.”
Gary Fraser and Callum MacDonald are suspended but Andrew Steeves will return to the starting line-up.
