Montrose boss Paul Hegarty is looking for his side to hit the goal trail as they make the long trek down to play Annan tonight.
The Gable Endies have been shot-shy so far this season with only nine league goals to their name after 10 games.
They failed to hit the back of the net again on Saturday when they slumped to a desperately disappointing defeat at home to Edinburgh City.
The result left Montrose second bottom of League 2 and Hegarty has demanded greater consistency from a group of players who stunned top-of-the-table Forfar by beating them at Station Park just a few weeks ago.
The Links Park manager said: “Saturday’s result was really disappointing.
“We had watched Edinburgh City the week before and the players had been told what to expect.
“We had most of the play but didn’t create enough chances and the penalty was enough to win it for them.
“It is not difficult to see where our main problem lies with only nine goals for so far this season which is the lowest in the league.
“We are not capitalising on the chances we are taking while our goals against was decent before we shipped five against Elgin.”
Hegarty added: “Our defensive record isn’t bad but the goals-for record is really poor and we have to improve.
“We have shooting drills at every training session so there are no excuses.
“Hopefully it will change when we go to Annan.
“You would have to ask the players themselves if they realise they are in a dogfight.
“I know it is still early in the campaign and we have two games in hand on Edinburgh City but the facts remain that we only have nine points on the board and are sitting second bottom of the table.
“So we have to start winning and consistently.
“Gary Fraser is free from suspension now and hopefully that will mean we are more potent down at Annan.
“However, Callum MacDonald will miss out because of work commitments.”
