Darren Dods has tipped Mark Wilson to be successful in management but hopes to get the better of him today when Brechin travel to play Airdrie.
The pair both had long spells as players at Dundee United but their paths never crossed other than in opposition at different clubs.
Dods, though, knows enough about Wilson and has heard enough about him from others to confidently predict that he will prosper at the Diamonds in his first coaching role.
The City boss said: “We were at Tannadice at different times but I played against him a few times.
“There are plenty of people in the game who speak highly of Mark and I think he will do well as a manager.
“They got a good win against Albion Rovers last week but we didn’t do too badly ourselves.
“It was really good to go up to Peterhead and get a valuable win when the weather conditions were so terrible.
“To come away with a 3-1 success and three points was a real morale-booster and we are looking for another away victory at a tough venue.”
City, though, don’t have their troubles to seek selection-wise.
Darren McCormack, Finn Graham and Chris O’Neil are all ruled out through injury, while Paul McLean and Andy Jackson are doubtful.
“We are down to about 15 fit players,” said Dods.
“We might get either Jackson or McLean fit but the squad is really stretched.”
