Montrose caretaker manager John Holt can strengthen his claim for the position on a permanent basis if his side defeats Queen’s Park at Hampden tonight and progress to the next round of the Scottish Cup.
Club chairman John Crawford said last week that Holt was in the running for the position for a second time in his career however the former Dundee United is not looking long term.
Holt said: “We are taking things one game at a time at the moment so I am not looking any further forward than that.
“We did well against Forfar in my first game and could have taken more than a draw.
“We will look to build on that performance at Queen’s Park. We know them well from last season and they have had a good run of results recently so this will be a difficult game.”
