If the phrase “first-time volley” was to be found in the dictionary, we’re pretty sure there’d be a play-by-play description of this goal underneath it.
In the final moments of the Chilean Primera Division game between Universidad de Concepcion and O’Higgins, it was O’Higgins who trailed 2-1. With that in mind, goalkeeper Miguel Angel Pinto launched the ball up the field in an attempt to find an equaliser.
He probably didn’t expect to see the ball come sailing past him and into his own net seconds later.
Cue hugs all round for Alejandro Camargo, whose goal made it 3-1 to Universidad de Concepcion with just about the last kick of the game.
Bad news however – the entry missed the deadline for the 2016 Puskas Award, celebrating the most beautiful goals of the year. The good news? The goal is surely one of the first entries for the 2017 gong.
