League Two leaders Forfar head to Annan this afternoon seven points clear of second placed Arbroath, with Station Park manager Gary Bollan continuing to be modest about his side’s chances of still being top at the end of the season.
Bollan said: “We are at the half-way stage but there are still lots of points to be won and lost so we will stick to what we have done every week.
“That is simply concentrating on the next game.
“We defeated Annan 5-1 in December but that is meaningless now.
“Annan have won their last two games and are on the verge of a play-off place now so they will be very dangerous opponents.
“They won well at Clyde last weekend and Galabank is a very difficult venue to get anything from.”
On the Loons previous visit to the south-west of Scotland ground the spirit that has brought them seven points from the last three games in adverse circumstances was beginning to emerge.
Bollan explained: “In the last game at Annan they were in front for a long time before we got into things.
“We managed to grab a 2-1 win and that was probably the first time the spirit we have in the group was shown.”
“That spirit has been terrific in recent games as we have come from behind late on to win points.
“The players really have been a credit to themselves.
“We played the last half hour at Elgin on Monday with only 10 men and came from a losing position to draw. We were playing so well on the counter-attack that we could have gone on to win the game.
“We will need that spirit again in this game.”
Stuart Malcolm misses out after his red card at Borough Briggs however Thomas O’Brien and Lewis Milne are available.
