Montrose manager Stewart Petrie is looking for his team to take another step forward in their season by denying Elgin City a third consecutive success over them when the sides meet at Links Park.
The Gable Endies go into the game undefeated under Petrie, after a goalless draw at Arbroath on Monday.
He said: “It was a good performance in what was a right good game at Gayfield. I thought that we were the better team in the first half but Arbroath were better in the second and a draw was about right.
“We had some good chances but did not get the ball over the line and when that happens then you have to make sure that you keep a clean sheet and we did that.
“It has built a further layer on confidence in our side ahead of facing what is a very good Elgin team.”
The Moray men have scored nine times and conceded just once in the games so far this season.
Petrie added: “They have turned Montrose over twice and it would be great to stop them claiming a hat-trick. They are one of the best footballing sides in our division and that good football usually results in them scoring goals.”
Petrie is determined that this meeting will not be as one-sided though.
He said: “The reaction from the players since I came in last month has been terrific. Their work-rate and commitment has been first class.
“I think the fans are seeing that and it was great to have so many people backing us at Arbroath.”
Petrie hopes to add a midfielder on loan from a Premiership club, however Chris Hegarty and Iain Campbell miss out due to injuries, with Michael Bolochoweckyj and Paul Watson both required to prove their fitness ahead of kick-off.
