East Fife boss Barry Smith is hoping that a result from three weeks ago in the league will give his team the confidence and belief to win this afternoon in the William Hill Scottish Cup.
The Methil men secured a notable victory over top-of-the-table Livingston at Bayview on Hogmanay.
East Fife, who are understood to be trying to bring Dunfermline’s Ryan Williamson in on loan, will now look for a similar result when they travel to the Tony Macaroni Stadium today.
Smith’s side will also be attempting to extend their unbeaten run to nine games after taking a point at Airdrie in the league last week.
The manager said: “Last week’s draw was probably a fair result. It was obviously disappointing to lose a late goal but the good thing was that we kept our unbeaten run going.
“That’s also the second time we have gone behind against the full-time clubs in the league and have come back which shows the character the lads possess.
“There is a wee break from the league now for the Scottish Cup but the draw has us facing a team we played only three weeks ago.
“The good thing is we won that match so we will go into the tie with confidence.
“We will have to be at the top of our game once again, especially defensively if we want to progress to the next round.
“Livi have a lot of attacking threats throughout their team and a big danger man in Liam Buchanan.
“We know all about his threat and he scored against us the last time out.
“So we have to make sure we keep him quiet.
“A cup run would be massive for the club but we just have to concentrate fully on beating Livingston and then seeing where it takes us.”
On-loan St Johnstone keeper Mark Hurst will not be allowed to play in the cup tie but another Saints loanee Jason Kerr can take part while Smith also welcomes Ryan Goodfellow back from injury.
