Arbroath boss Dick Campbell has bolstered his squad ahead of today’s League 2 game at Gayfield against Annan with the addition of a striker and a goalie from two Championship sides.

The veteran manager has drafted in on loan front man Donald McCallum from Dumbarton as well as highly-rated teenage keeper Cameron Gill, who signed a new two-year contract with Dunfermline earlier this week.

The duo join the Red Lichties with the Angus side now sitting just five points behind leaders Forfar having cut the gap last week with a 4-1 win over Berwick while their Angus neighbours were drawing with Stirling Albion at Station Park.

Campbell is now looking for his side to continue their promotion push and put further pressure on their Angus neighbours at the top of the table.

He said: “It was a good win for us last week against Berwick and obviously it was pleasing to be able to close the gap on Forfar at the top of the table.

“It was another vital three points for us and I honestly feel we are getting better every week.

“We have the best defensive record in the division having only conceded 20 goals while we are the third-top scorers.

“So there are really encouraging signs for the rest of the season and we are looking strong contenders for the play-offs which was always our aim at the start of the season.

“We have also strengthened the squad with the addition of youngsters Donald McCallum and Cameron Gill. Both are highly thought of by their clubs and I am looking forward to working with them.

“We are now six games unbeaten and hopefully we can continue that good run of form against Annan on Saturday.”

Campbell has no injury or suspension worries for the game.
