Cowdenbeath hope to come out of cold storage successfully by defeating Annan at Central Park today.
The Blue Brazil have managed to play just three games so far in 2017.
That lack of opportunity has held back their hopes of climbing away from trouble at the foot of the table, with manager Liam Fox saying: “We have been kicking our heels for a few weeks now as the Elgin game was called off just before kick-off and then Clyde were playing in the Scottish Cup.
“We had hoped to keep things ticking over in a bounce game but that was called off twice due to snow so it has been a frustrating period.
“The players have worked hard really hard in training to make up for that so we are ready for Annan. When you throw in a couple of new faces desperate to finally get playing then there is a freshness about the squad.”
Fox had already made up his mind to replace David McGurn as goalkeeper before his side were idle and he is sticking to that decision.
He explained: “Jamie Sneddon was due to face Elgin and he will start this game. He has been patient and waited for his opportunity and he now has it.
“We have Robbie Buchanan and Matthew Rooney itching for their debuts so there is a real desire to get going again.”
Despite their lack of matches the Central Park side are only two points away from safety, with two games in hand.
Fox added: “Things are still very much in our own hands. Despite not playing for three weeks we are not marooned or anything like that. We know that we have to win more games than we did in the first half of the season and that is what we are setting out to do.”
Kenny Adamson is the only absentee due to a back injury.
