Raith’s Jean-Yves M’voto insists his side’s battling qualities will be key when they travel to face Ayr at Somerset Park tonight.
The big French defender was in no doubt regarding the importance of the match with Rovers just four points ahead of Ian McCall’s second-bottom side in the Championship table.
M’voto and the rest of the Raith players are determined to end a miserable run without a win that stretches back to October and to widen the gap on the Honest Men.
However, the centre-half admits they will only achieve their aims if they can win the battle.
M’voto said: “I think we are very close but we need to fight harder as the season is finishing soon.
“I think we need to stick together and fight for what is ahead of us.
“We are a good group and team but we just need to try an extra bit.
“When we do it once, it will happen for us.
“I have been in teams before when the season has been difficult. So we just have to dig in.
“When we get that win, the confidence comes back.
“I don’t think we are low in confidence, we just need to fight really hard and I am sure if we get that win, everything is going to come straight after.
“I think everybody knows Tuesday night is going to be a big battle – that is the only word I can say.
“The team that is going to fight more is going to win the game.
“That’s what we have to do.”
