Backing from Dunfermline fans ‘different class’ as James McPake welcomes back midfielder

James McPake has praised the support from the stands his Dunfermline Athletic side has received so far this season.

The Pars have dropped more points in matches at East End Park than they have on the road, but the fans have continued to back their team.

They got behind their side in the second half versus Kelty Hearts on Saturday with the scores level.

They got behind their side right after Airdrie’s equaliser earlier in the season – and were almost rewarded when Rhys Breen’s goal was harshly disallowed.

The Pars support have given the team their backing.

They did so again when behind to Falkirk a few weeks later.

That same opposition awaits this weekend, this time at the Falkirk Stadium, a match the Pars fans need no encouragement to make noise at.

‘They got us over the line’

“It has been different class,” said McPake. “Even when we are playing at home they can get frustrated, we know that.

“It’s probably not been our best performances at home but they still get right behind us.

“In the Peterhead game and in the Airdrie game when Airdrie came back into it.

The Falkirk game the first time, when they went in the lead pretty early.

“Then they got us over the line last weekend (versus Kelty), for example.

“They have got behind us after what was a disappointing season last season so we need to keep doing that but that’s down to the players.

“For me, that is players showing that they have the fight and the desire to play for this football club.

“As long as they continue to do that the crowd will keep following them no matter what is happening.”

Allan to return

McPake will be without Lewis McCann and Kevin O’Hara, who remain out injured, but midfielder Paul Allan could feature against Falkirk this weekend.

Allan will be in the squad this weekend.

The 22-year-old has been missing since the 3-0 win at Edinburgh at the start of August.

“He will make the squad for the weekend. He has trained well,” said the Pars boss.

“He is a good player, we are delighted to have him back.”

Breen, meanwhile, has shaken off a tight hamstring and will be available for selection.
