Kevin Harper insists his shock exit from Lochee United is now a legal matter.
Harper, 46, left the Dundee junior outfit on Sunday, just FIVE DAYS after being confirmed as successor to long-serving boss George Shields.
It has emerged that Harper’s appointment was not ratified by the entire committee, sparking a boardroom rift at Thomson Park.
And concerns regarding the recruitment process and the finances involved prompted an embarrassing u-turn by Lochee.
The former Albion Rovers manager took to Twitter to address the situation, confirming that his legal team are now addressing the matter.
Harper wrote: “I have seen the statement released on behalf of Lochee United in relation to my position as manager.
“Unfortunately, at this moment in time, I am unable to make a comment as the matter is being dealt with by my legal team.
“I hope to be in a position to say more in the not too distant future.”
Regret
Speaking on Sunday, a Lochee source told Courier Sport: “We regret the way this has all played out. We spoke to Kevin and made it clear that we felt terrible.
“However, it wasn’t a decision we have taken lightly; we knew there would be repercussions. But this needed to be sorted out for the good of the club.
“We need to make sure this club remains self-sufficient and lives within its means. That is something Lochee has always prided itself on.
“This is an embarrassing situation for the club, which is not something we are used to. Lochee United are hugely respected in the community and we always strive to live up to that.”
Lochee face Arbroath Victoria in the Midlands League next Saturday.
