Things are not looking good at my old team Lochee United right now.
From the outside, it looks like a right mess.
Everything started with George Shields being sacked a few weeks ago.
Then came Kevin Harper’s appointment and subsequent departure on Sunday after just five days.
It all comes down to the fact things have been done without the consent of the full committee.
That’s not a way to run things.
I understand there are ambitions there and they want to go in a certain direction.
But there have been signs of trouble coming down the road for a little while now.
People have to remember there are folk on that committee who commit their whole lives to that club and decisions are made with the club’s best interests at heart.
It’s clear some haven’t been totally comfortable with the new direction the club has been going in and it’s all come to a head.
Kevin Harper
Unfortunately for Harper, he’s caught in the middle.
It’s unfair on him, no doubt.
But how fair would it have been on him to let things go on without the full backing of the club behind him?
It’s a very difficult decision to have made.
But I’ve no doubt it has been made, again, with the best interests of Lochee United at heart.
From the outside, though, it certainly doesn’t look good.
A lot of work is needed to sort all this out now.
