Ross Campbell labelled a shock Montrose Scottish Cup exit to Darvel as a ‘disaster’ – but tipped the Link Park stars to quickly turn around their fortunes.
The Angus side were knocked out of the Cup at the first hurdle after a 5-2 thrashing at the hands of Junior side Darvel.
And after losing 4-0 away to Queen of the South last weekend, Montrose have now shipped NINE GOALS in two games.
Those defeats could be considered freak scorelines for a Mo side that has been built on solid foundations in recent years.
And Montrose assistant Campbell certainly hopes so.
“It’s a disaster for everyone involved with Montrose,” said Campbell.

“I don’t think we gave a good representation of ourselves at all.
“Cup draws are important to the club both financially and in terms of confidence. Any way you look at it, this was a disaster.
“But it would also be remiss of me not to congratulate a brilliant Darvel team on their win.
“There was a huge amount of quality in their team.
“There are players throughout their team who have played at this level before and could, arguably, continue to be do so.
“In many respects, there was only one team who looked like a League One team and it was Darvel.
“Many congratulations to them. We are always humble in defeat but from our point of view it wasn’t acceptable.
“They were better than us in all aspects of the game. Defensively they were solid, offensively they were clinical.
Ross Campbell praises Darvel’s desire
“We had some good chances in the first half but didn’t create enough to win it.
“The desire and effort from Darvel to go and prove a point was clearly evident. We were sadly behind them in that regard.
“We’ve lost nine goals in two games and it’s really unlike us.
“The work ethic and desire is usually a hallmark of our club.
“We have a great group of lads and they care passionately about their performances and results so hopefully they’ll turn it around quickly.
“Our fans have stuck with us and are embedded in the culture of a club where everyone gets on.
“From the chairman to the management, the players to the staff to the volunteers and fans.
“We are all in this together and we expect performances and results.”
