Brechin City are about to start the toughest three-game spell of their League One run-in.
And Glebe Park boss Darren Dods would be quite happy if they are still in third place when they come out the other side.
A home game with runaway leaders Livingston awaits them today, with trips to fellow promotion contenders Airdrie and Alloa to follow.
“The next three matches are very difficult ones,” Dods admitted.
“If you offered me our current league position after them I would probably take it.
“After these games, though, we have two at home out of the last three.”
This will be Brechin’s last chance to beat a side that has consistently got the better of them this season.
“They’re the only team in the league we haven’t taken points off,” Dods pointed out.
“Obviously, we want to put that right.
“We were above them after 10 games but the difference between Livingston and the rest of us has been that when they’ve had a dip it hasn’t lasted long.
“They’re a full-time team, which makes a difference during the winter months.
“We can definitely compete with them in a one-off game though, and our recent form is similar – four wins out of six.”
Brechin’s late win against East Fife seven days ago had the look of a defining moment in their season.
And an injury-time winner was certainly long overdue, as Dods revealed.
“It was the first time we’ve scored in stoppage time since I came to the club,” he explained.
“I think five minutes to go was the latest before that.
“It makes a big difference to your season if you can get late winners and hopefully that will prove to be an important three points.”
Ally Love is out today but Alan Trouten and Willie Dyer should both be available.
