An effective performance from Cowdenbeath gave them a lifeline in their bid to avoid the Ladbrokes League 2 relegation play-offs.
The Blues closed to within a point of Clyde with the win over the Bully Wee on Saturday, and within four of Edinburgh City, so there is all to play for.
There was not a lot of good football in this game, with defences on top, but what good chances there were came from Cowdenbeath.
Dale Carrick struck a fine winner on 51 minutes after Clyde defender Jordan McMillan’s mistake let him clean through and he tucked the ball past visiting keeper Kyle Gourlay.
Clyde sent on their new signing, former Dundee United striker David Goodwillie, for the last quarter but he made no impact as the Blues went for a second goal.
Martin McNiff came closest to causing damage for Clyde with a 16-yarder which Cowden keeper Jamie Sneddon brilliantly saved.
Cowden boss Gary Locke has seen his team collect 10 points in six games and was happy with the performance:
“It was never going to be a classic football-wise because there was an awful lot at stake, but I was very pleased with the way we handled their style of play.
“They wanted to get the ball into our box as quickly as possible and it meant that we had to work really hard on our defensive technique,” he said.
“It was encouraging to get another shutout, and the three points have given us a light at the end of the tunnel.”
