Arbroath boss Dick Campbell fully focused on his own side and not what title rivals are doing

Arbroath boss Dick Campbell insists he will be fully focused on events at Gayfield today – not what championship challengers Forfar are doing.

Another chapter in the nail-biting League 2 title race will unfold this afternoon with the Red Lichties sitting just one point behind their Angus neighbours at the top of the table.

Campbell’s side overcame a potential banana skin last week, winning 2-1 at Cowdenbeath thanks to goals from Steven Doris and Ryan McCord, while Forfar were also securing three points with a convincing 3-0 victory at home to Clyde.

Gary Bollan’s men now have their own tricky trip to Central Park to face Gary Locke’s side who are still fighting to escape the dreaded pyramid play-offs.

However, Campbell’s sole focus is on what his own team are doing against Elgin at Gayfield.

He said: “I felt we dealt well with what was a really difficult game last week.

“Cowdenbeath are fighting for their lives and I know Forfar will also find it tough going to Central Park.

“However, I will just be looking at our game and what we do against Elgin.

“They are still in the hunt for a play-off spot and Jim Weir will have them fired up for the game.

“With just two matches to go in the regular season, we know there is no margin for error but the lads have shown they can deal with pressure.

“My team will be along similar lines to last week.

“We have achieved what we set out to do this season, secure a promotion play-off place, but it is great that we are still in with a big chance of winning the title and automatic promotion with just two games to go.”
