Raith Rovers have announced that they will continue to work towards remaining a full-time club next season.
The Kirkcaldy side suffered the agony of relegation at the weekend, losing a Championship play-off semi-final on penalties to Brechin City at Stark’s Park with manager John Hughes parting company with the club shortly after.
Dropping down to League 1 inevitably sparked concerns that the harsh financial realities would mean a move to part-time football for Raith.
However, the club have now confirmed that they will look to avert having to take such action while the search for a new manager begins in earnest.
In a statement, Raith said: “There has been a day of important meetings at Stark’s Park today.
“The board of directors met this morning to consider the financial implications of our relegation from the Ladbrokes Championship.
“This was followed by a meeting between the board, players and football support staff as a group, and then a series of meetings with individual players and support staff to discuss their own personal contractual situations and options for the way forward.
“Finally, the board met again to review the findings of the day’s discussions and agreed to continue to work towards achieving the objective of retaining full-time football for season 2017/2018.
“A further progress report on this work will be issued as soon as possible, and in the meantime the board will take its time to identify a new manager.”
