Cowdenbeath win their play-off on penalties to stay in SPFL

Cowdenbeath have preserved their SPFL status with a penalty-shoot pyramid play-off victory over East Kilbride at Central Park.
The teams couldn’t be separated after two matches and extra-time so it went all the way to a shoot-out.
Ironically, the side which had missed six penalties in a row before the match, was faultless when it really mattered and scored all five in the 5-3 win.
Fraser Mullen’s early goal was just what was needed to settle the nerves of home fans in the crowd of just over 1,600.
Midway through the second period, though, Keiran Gibbons scored for East Kilbride to level the tie again.
That was enough to take the game into extra-time, then penalties and Gary Locke’s side held their nerve to keep the Fife club in League Two.
