Local hero Charlotte Gammie is hoping the success of Montrose FC Women can inspire girls to dream of making the big time.
Gammie picked up her third winners’ medal with her hometown team as she collected the SWPL2 title on Sunday.
The talented playmaker has booked a place alongside the likes of Glasgow City, Celtic and Rangers in the SWPL1 next term.
And Gammie is proud to be a leading light to any aspiring Montrose girls who are dreaming of a bright future in the sport.
“I hope this can act as an inspiration to the younger generation,” said Gammie.
“We are giving them a platform to go and succeed in their careers.

“The ball girls have been amazing in supporting us all season and there are many out there who’d love to make it in this game.
“We have shown there is a pathway to go all the way to the top.
“I still find it incredible that some want my autograph but if I can do anything to make someone smile then I will.
“We have girls watching us every week and we are their idols. That’s something I never thought would be possible when I was growing up.
“One girl, Josie, got a present from her parents of my Championship-winning shirt and boots from last year, which was a lovely gesture.
“I’m 30 this year and I’m doing something I love.
“This is my third title with my hometown. I’m Montrose born and bred so this makes it extra special.
“This is the best team I’ve ever played with and I’ll remember this moment for the rest of my life.”
Charlotte Gammie is ‘part of the fabric’ of Montrose FC Women
Gammie helped Montrose to back-to-back championship successes after previously winning the SWFL Division Two title in 2018.
That came under the guidance of Gammie’s dad, Kenny, the club’s former head coach.
She won the SWFL Division Two Player of the Year in 2018 and a move to the top flight with Forfar Farmington.
And she’s a major part of the fairytale success story that saw last year’s invincible Championship winning side follow up with the SWPL2 title.
Montrose boss Craig Feroz added: “This is a great achievement for everyone involved with the club but I can understand why it’s so special for Charlotte.
“She was in with the fabric when this side started.
“She went away to Forfar but I worked hard to get her back.
“We’re the Cinderellas of the game, the little club that can go big and I’m really proud of that fact.
“It shows other clubs what is possible with a little bit of support.
“I hope they get it because that’s what the game needs to continue growing.”
