Montrose boss Stewart Petrie has revealed he has narrowly missed out on two signing targets as he looks to have his squad fully in place before the start of pre-season.
The Links Park boss has already completed a lot of early business and has 16 players under contract for next season, including new additions such as former Forfar stalwart Martyn Fotheringham and Matty Allan who was recently released by Premiership side Dundee.
Petrie’s priorities now lie in strengthening two key positions but he admits he is in no rush despite the two setbacks.
He said: “We have made a couple of offers to players but they have decided to stay where they are.
“It is disappointing but understandable so the search goes on.
“We are looking for a centre-half and a striker but it seems that 99% of other clubs are as well.
“So we are still actively looking for additions to the squad.
“However, we are pretty far ahead and while we would like everyone in place for pre-season, we are relaxed about the situation at the moment.”
