Montrose have added sports scientist Stuart MacFarlane to their management team.
He joins the League Two side on a one-year contract and manager Stewart Petrie explained: “It is really tough for our players to balance their day jobs with playing football in terms of proper preparation, diet and recovery.
“It is therefore vital we make the best use of the limited time we have with the boys at training and on a match day.
“Stuart comes highly recommended and I am really looking forward to working with him as we change a number of things that have been routine here for a long, long time.
“The league will be extremely tight again this year and we are just doing everything we can to give ourselves the best chance of success.”
MacFarlane is currently youth academy head of sports science at St Johnstone, a role he assumed while completing his studies at Edinburgh University.
He said: “I’m looking forward to working with the boys.
“This is a new challenge for me and my first experience of working within first team senior football.
“I am hopeful the support I provide will have a positive impact and will help towards a successful season where we can challenge for promotion.”
