Montrose may be heading to an unfamiliar ground today but at least they know all about Edinburgh City.
The Gable Endies open their League Two campaign at Ainslie Park, home of Spartans, which City will be sharing while Meadowbank gets redeveloped.
The surroundings may be different to last season but after a year in the SPFL the Edinburgh men are well known to Petrie and his players.
The Montrose gaffer said: “It will be nice to be at the new park and we know all about Edinburgh City.
“They have a lot of good players so we are under no illusions about how difficult a match this will be regardless of where it is played.
“It is great to get the new league season started, though.
“This is when the real ball comes out, I guess.
“The boys have been working hard in training this week after a wee rest they got because we had a tough schedule in the Betfred Cup.
“Our last competitive game was a good win in the cup against Alloa so we will be taking confidence from that into the league campaign.”
Petrie is, understandably, optimistic ahead of the big kick-off but he does have plenty of selection worries.
No fewer than six players are carrying injuries, while Graham Webster and Paul Watson are both suspended.
