Cowdenbeath manager Billy Brown has told his players that they will get it tough against Montrose at Links Park.
But the veteran boss insists there are reasons to be optimistic.
Brown explained: “We have had two good performances in the past week and, despite not winning them both, we will take a lot of encouragement from them.
“We went up to Tannadice and did well for the first hour and had as many opportunities as our hosts. They had a lot of possession but we gave them a fright, however once they got their noses in front we were not going to get back in.
“For a brand new team I am really pleased with what the players are giving me and the fans.”
Brown knows from experience that the Gable Endies will be a test for his recast squad.
He said: “Montrose were the strongest side that we played during our time in charge at the end of last season. It was the only game during that spell that we never looked like we had a chance of winning.
“To beat Stirling is midweek was a great result as well so it will be a tough game for our youngsters but they can go there with confidence and look for a result.”
Ben Stirling returns after playing for Hibs under-20s in midweek, with Brown also able to call on the fit again Shaun Rutherford and Josh Morris. Jack Whittaker remains out.
