Montrose manager Stewart Petrie has got the competition for places he was looking for.
And it hasn’t made team selection for today’s visit of Cowdenbeath an easy one.
Petrie made some changes for the midweek Irn Bru cup clash with in-form Stirling Albion and the reward was an impressive 3-1 away win.
The Links Park boss admitted that he couldn’t have asked for any more.
“We shuffled the pack a wee bit,” he said. “And it was a fantastic result.
“Dave Mackay has got a good team and, put it this way, any team finishing above them in the league will have had a good season.
“I wanted a situation whereby bringing in different squad members wouldn’t have a detrimental impact and hopefully that will continue to be the case.
“We’ve got the five injured boys on their way back and once everybody is fit I’ll have around 20 players to choose from.
“As far as the Cowdenbeath game is concerned, picking a team hasn’t been straight forward.”
Chris Templeman and Martyn Fotheringham were rested in midweek and both will be available this afternoon.
Petrie added: “By all accounts Cowdenbeath did very well against Dundee United in midweek. Billy Brown will have his team as well organised and motivated as always.”
