Arbroath boss Dick Campbell admits he has a big problem ahead of this afternoon’s trip to Stranraer – how do you make changes to a team that has just won 5-0?
The Red Lichties thumped Angus neighbours Forfar by that scoreline last week with a performance the veteran manager described as “outstanding”.
The win was all the more remarkable as it was achieved without injured strikers Steven Doris, Bryan Prunty and Josh Skelly while Gavin Swankie was also unavailable.
However, the likes of Bobby Linn and Ryan McCord were drafted back into the starting line-up and took their chance scoring three of their side’s goals between them.
Now, Campbell has a big decision to make for the game at Stranraer, who currently sit on the same amount of points as Arbroath in League 1.
The manager said: “That was an absolutely outstanding performance at Forfar last week.
“The boys were superb from start to finish and the result was all the more pleasing coming as it did after a defeat at home the previous week.
“Gavin Swankie is available again for the trip to Stranraer but I have a big problem – how do I change a team that has won 5-0?
“Whenever you bring players back into the team, you tell them to take their opportunity and they did that against Forfar.
“There is some good news on the injury front with a chance that Prunty and Skelly may be fit enough to take a place on the bench.
“Steven Doris is also making good progress and he might return after the international break.
“However, I am on the hunt for an experienced keeper to come in on a temporary basis as Ricky Gomes is out.
“He suffered a head knock a couple of weeks ago and is still having problems.
“So hopefully we can get someone in at short notice.
“But we will go to Stranraer in confident frame of mind after last week’s win.”
