Cowdenbeath can climb off the bottom of the table

Cowdenbeath head to Annan this afternoon boosted by ending a disappointing run with a draw at Clyde last weekend.

And that point has presented them with the opportunity to move above their hosts and off the bottom of the League Two table.

The Blue Brazil battled to a 1-1 draw at Broadwood and the relief at getting a point after four goalless defeats was felt by manager Billy Brown and his players.

Brown said: “It was not a win but scoring an equaliser in the last minute and ending our barren run in front of goal felt almost as good as a win.

“It has given everyone a boost and training this week has been upbeat. However, to be fair to the players their heads had not been down too much as apart from the Peterhead game they have done well.

“We showed a lot of character at Clyde to come back in the manner that we did and young Harvey Swann deserves credit for keeping cool with his penalty. However if Harvey had told me that he had never scored before in senior football I may not have let him take it!”

Brown added: “The Annan game will also be incredibly tight. They did well at Stirling Albion last weekend and almost took something away from the home of the league leaders so they must be a decent side.

“If we can play like we can but get a bit more joy in front of goal then we can come home with a win.”

Former Dundee United striker Jordan Garden is included for the second game as a trialist however Shaun Rutherford and Jamie Pyper remain out injured.
