League 2 leaders Albion were comfortable winners at Central Park on Saturday, consigning Cowden to their third successive league defeat.
The first quarter of the season is over and Cowden have just five points and only three goals scored, meaning much has to change in the next 27 games if the Fifers are to avoid the same problems they experienced last term.
They are currently in bottom position, but only one point behind Edinburgh City.
Despite the result, Cowden opened well enough and Ben Stirling tested Albion goalkeeper Cammy Binnie early on
But once the visitors took the lead in 27 minutes – from a fine finish by Darren Smith – you could see the confidence drain from the young home side.
Peter MacDonald’s 33rd-minute header stretched the interval lead to two, and although Cowdenbeath’s Robbie Buchanan and Cammy Muirhead brought out good saves from Stirling’s Binnie, a third goal in 66 minutes from substitute Neil McLaughlin, effectively ended the game as a contest.
