Forfar boss Jim Weir is hoping that the psychological boost of moving off the bottom of League One will see them continue their upturn in form against East Fife this afternoon.
A draw against title favourites Raith Rovers was followed up with a 4-3 win on the road against Albion Rovers last weekend.
It was the first time Forfar had scored more than one in a match since the start of August and Weir is hoping that the goals and points increase will have an impact on self-belief.
“Last week’s win was good for everyone involved with club on the back of the draw with Raith the week before,” he said.
“We came from behind again which shows character.
“It’s massive to climb off the bottom of the table and should give the players a real lift.
“We now have to make sure it’s just the start.
“When you’re at the bottom for a long time teams start to think that they’ll be OK because we’re struggling and we have to put the pressure on them and stay in the mix.
“We’ve had a really good training week and are ready to go again.
“We hadn’t been scoring in open play but I’ve been telling the players that we do have creative types here and boys with good goalscoring records.”
Weir’s experience of facing East Fife earlier this season when he was Elgin manager has prepared him for a tough fixture at Station Park today.
“We played them in the cup and I was really impressed by them,” he recalled.
“They know how to win games and Darren’s team has probably got even stronger since then.”
Weir’s squad is likely to be the same as last weekend, with Murray McIntosh and Dylan Easton likely to shake off knocks to be available.
