The arrival of players who haven’t suffered the pain of being winless in the first half of the league season could be the “spark” Brechin City need, according to manager Darren Dods.
Callum Tapping has signed from Queen of the South and “two or three others” could follow.
Dods said: “The boys are always able to brush aside a disappointing result when they come into training on a Tuesday or Thursday. They’ve got a great attitude of ‘let’s go again’.
“If anything, the only time that heads might go down is if we go behind in a game.
“Bringing Callum in and hopefully two or three others will freshen things up.
“He hasn’t been involved in this run of games without a win and might give us a wee spark that we need.
“He’s coming from full-time football and has made 14 starts for Queen of the South and has come off the bench six times.
“So he comes here ready to play. He did well at Brechin last time and hopefully it will be the same again.”
Ryan McGeever will have a scan this weekend which will determine whether he is out for another few weeks or the rest of the season should a fracture be revealed.
Back to back home games against mid-table sides represent a good chance for Brechin to get that first Championship win.
Dods said: “We’ve been really competitive at home and were unlucky to be beaten by Inverness last weekend.
“If we play at that level again we’ll have a good chance against Morton.”
