Cowdenbeath pip Montrose to sign striker Chris Renton

Cowdenbeath have been successful in their pursuit of former striker Chris Renton, who has ignored the advances of League Two title winners Montrose and agreed to return to Central Park.
The 27-year-old started his career at Norwich City before having a stint at Brechin City that was followed by seven years in the junior ranks with Musselburgh, Bonnyrigg Rose and Newtongrange Star.
Renton returned to the senior ranks with Cowden in 2016 and scored 10 times, with his form earning a move to Alloa where he scored six times as the Wasps won promotion to the Championship.
The Gable Endies looked to sign Renton following his release from the Indodrill Stadium side, however he will be signing for Gary Bollan’s side.
Links Park boss Stewart Petrie said: “We made an enquiry about Chris as we are still looking to add a striker to our pool however he has agreed to go elsewhere.”
