Dunfermline are hoping to bring former Partick Thistle winger Steven Lawless to East End Park, Courier Sport can reveal.
And if the 27-year-old signs for the Pars it would fill the space left by Joe Cardle who has left the club and could be set to join Fife neighbours Raith Rovers.
Lawless made over 150 appearances for the Jags after joining from Motherwell in 2012 but was one of the many players released after their relegation to the Championship.
Cardle, 31, had two spells with Dunfermline, totalling seven seasons.
He wasn’t offered fresh terms for next season and the club confirmed last night he was leaving.
It wouldn’t be the first time Cardle has moved to Stark’s Park, should a deal with Raith go ahead.
Following Dunfermline’s administration in 2013 he was signed by Grant Murray and played in their Challenge Cup final win against Rangers.
