A former Forfar Athletic player has been given the “all-clear” from doctors after being injured during a match in the north-east on Sunday afternoon.
A pre-season friendly between Cove Rangers and Aberdeen at the Balmoral Stadium had to be abandoned due to the head injury to Cove midfielder Jordon Brown.
He was said to be seriously hurt following a clash with Dons defender Andrew Considine five minutes into the second half of the match.
He received medical treatment on the pitch before referee Alex Shepherd made the decision to abandon the game.
An ambulance was called to the scene and remained on the pitch for about half an hour.
Cove Rangers said that Brown was due to be discharged from Aberdeen Royal Infirmary on Sunday evening.
A club statement read: “As has been reported by the media today, our opening game at Balmoral Stadium against Aberdeen FC was overshadowed by a serious looking injury to Cove Rangers player Jordon Brown.
“Jordon suffered a head injury as a result of an accidental clash of heads with Aberdeen FC player Andrew Considine, in the 50th minute of today’s game.
“The club would like to report that Jordon has been assessed by the medical team at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, his scans are all clear and he will be discharged this evening and monitored over a further 48-hour period.
“We’d like to thank the medical staff from both Cove and Aberdeen FC, police and ambulance crew who attended to Jordon in a speedy manner. This has undoubtedly led to the best possible outcome.
“Everyone at Cove Rangers wishes Jordon all the very best as he continues his way towards a full recovery.”
Brown, 25, joined Cove Rangers from Peterhead this summer. While with Aberdeen earlier in his career, he had two loan spells with Forfar Athletic.
Following the incident Aberdeen FC posted: “Due to a serious injury to Cove Rangers player Jordon Brown, today’s match has been abandoned.
“The thoughts of everyone at the club are with Jordon at this moment and we wish him a speedy recovery.”

Interviewed Jordon many times during his spell at @pfcofficial. Really hope this isn't as severe as it looks. Wish him well with recovery. https://t.co/nrlOgRznSp
