Montrose have fought off competition from predatory clubs elsewhere to persuade striker Martin Rennie to sign a one-year contract extension that will keep him at Links Park until the summer of 2020.
The 24-year-old has made a big impact since he joined the Gable Endies from junior side Lochgelly Albert in January.
Rennie was initially regarded as a long-term project but made 10 appearances and netted four times as Montrose clinched the League 2 title.
He has picked up where he left off this season, scoring the winner against Championship side Falkirk in the Betfred Cup, with his form resulting in a number of early enquiries from other clubs.
Now though Rennie has committed his future to Montrose – something that has delighted his boss Stewart Petrie.
The manager said: “I am super pleased that Martin has agreed to extend his contract with us. He has done really well and has risen to every challenge we have set him.
“He has good ability, fabulous potential and undoubtedly a bright future in the game but most importantly the lad has a great attitude and temperament.
