Scotland can give themselves a Nations League boost by playing the Celtic way, according to midfielder Ryan Christie.
The call-up for central defender Jack Hendry took the number of Parkhead players in Alex McLeish’s squad for the games against Albania tomorrow and Israel on Tuesday to six.
Joining Christie and Hendry in the green corner are goalkeeper Scott Bain, full-back Kieran Tierney, and midfielders James Forrest and Callum McGregor.
All bar Bain will probably be expecting to feature at some stage in Shkoder tomorrow against the Albanians.
Christie said: “I was delighted to be called up again and the with two big games coming up the next job is to make an impact for my country.
“After I made my debut against Holland last season I needed to keep my head down and concentrate on club football and eventually I knew international football would come.
“The boys at Celtic have a lot of momentum going into this camp and hopefully the manager can look at that and can put us in.
“We have a lot of positivity and feel as if we are playing at the top of our game,” added the 23-year-old Highlander, who has also spent time on loan at Aberdeen.
“The way we are playing for our club means we hope to take that into Scotland’s games.
“It’s good that we can take confidence from Celtic, where we have won must-win games recently, and take that into Scotland.
“We know how big these two Nations League matches are but all the boys are very confident we can get the results.”
