Montrose manager Stewart Petrie enjoyed some derby delight against Brechin but will put that win to one side to take on Stenhousemuir today.
Petrie is hoping for a better outcome at Ochilview this afternoon than when the Gable Endies were hit by a late sucker-punch there back in October.
He explained: “The last time we were there it turned out to be a really sore afternoon.
“We had played well during the game and it looked like we would take a deserved point when we equalised to make it 2-2 in the final minute.
“However, Stenhousemuir scored three minutes into injury-time to win 3-2.
“We should have been going home with something but we didn’t, and we had to accept that results like that happen in football sometimes.
“We will go there looking to win this time but it will be difficult. They are having a decent run and have drawn with Aberdeen and defeated Airdrie in two of their last three games.
“Their new manager Colin McMenamin has brought in a few new faces and they will have taken a lot of confidence from coming back and drawing at Pittodrie.
“They are stronger than they were at the start of the season, so we need to play well.”
Montrose picked up three points last weekend with an impressive 5-2 win over Brechin City but Petrie issued a note of caution.
The Links Park boss said: “It was a great result and parts of the performance were terrific.
“The second half was especially good as we dominated large parts of those 45 minutes but I am not getting carried away.
“Brechin had a great chance at 3-2 to equalise and fortunately for us they missed it.
“If it had gone in it could have been a different outcome but to win and score five goals, especially in front of our own fans in a derby, was special.
“It does not, however, mean a lot at Ochilview and we need to play well again to win.”
Last minute transfer deadline day signing from Peterhead, Russel McLean, could make his first start.
Petrie added: “Russell was on the bench last weekend as he had just joined the day before.
“He adds a new dimension to our attack as well as increasing competition for places which is no bad thing. He could get an outing early in this one.”
Matty Allan and Martyn Fotheringham remain on the sidelines.
