Arbroath boss Dick Campbell has brought in a new player ahead of this afternoon’s clash at Dumbarton with the addition of promising Celtic youngster Lewis Bell.
The 19-year-old defender was named in the Hoops Europa League squad earlier this season and also featured against the Red Lichties in a friendly at Gayfield in January.
Now, with Colin Hamilton definitely out for the League 1 game against Jim Duffy’s side and fellow defender David Gold rated doubtful, Campbell has drafted in Bell as Arbroath look to take another step towards title glory.
The Angus side are still 16 points clear at the top of the table ahead of nearest challengers Raith following the midweek fixtures that saw themselves and Rovers both draw at East Fife and Dumbarton respectively.
The veteran manager said: “Colin Hamilton has damaged his metatarsal and we are still awaiting the results of the X-ray so he will definitely not play at Dumbarton.
“There is a lot of bruising on his foot but hopefully it is not broken.
“David Gold is doubtful with a hamstring strain so he will have a late fitness test along with Michael McKenna although Ryan Wallace will also be missing after picking up a knock against East Fife.
“So I have brought in young defender Lewis Bell from Celtic and he will play as a trialist at Dumbarton.
“To be honest, we have been fairly lucky with injuries all season but thankfully we are still 16 points clear.
“But I made changes at East Fife and we will have to do the same again at Dumbarton.
“It is never easy going down there and they obviously still have loads to play for as they look to make themselves safe.
“Jim has them playing well so we know we will have to be at our best if we hope to pick up the result we all want.”
