Dundee United will face Scottish Cup runners-up Hearts in the group stages of the Betfred Cup after the draw was made at Hampden today. The Tangerines are in Group A along along with the Jam Tarts, East Fife, Stenhousemuir and Cowdenbeath. Newly-relegated Dundee were seeded in Group D and will play Inverness Caley Thistle, Raith Rovers, Peterhead and SPFL newcomers Cove Rangers. St Johnstone were also seeded and will face Ross County, Forfar, Brechin and Montrose in Group B. The North part of the draw is rounded off by Arbroath’s Group C, which sees the new Championship club take on Hibs, Alloa, Stirling Albion and Elgin. The cup gets the competitive season under way and kicks off on the weekend of July 13/14.
