Courier Sport understands that Arbroath have made an ambitious move to bring former Dundee United favourite Morgaro Gomis to the club.
The 33-year-old midfielder signed for what was his third spell at Tannadice in January but was released by Tangerines boss Robbie Neilson at the start of last month.
The Senegalese player is on the look-out for a new club and is believed to be someone Red Lichties manager Dick Campbell rates highly.
Arbroath, of course, are gearing up for life in the Championship this season with the manager keen to add further experience to his League 1 title-winning squad.
Gomis certainly fits that bill having won the Scottish Cup with United in 2010 as well as having had previous spells with Hearts and Birmingham City.
