East Fife manager Darren Young hailed his team’s “outstanding” display as they stunned Dundee United in the Betfred Cup.
Goals from Aaron Dunsmore and Liam Watt earned the Fifers their first competitive win over the Tangerines since 1972 and first Tannadice triumph since 1946.
As the 2-0 Group A result sunk in, Young said: “It was an outstanding performance from start to finish.
“We made four changes from the weekend and it says a lot that we can do that and put in a performance like that.
“I can’t ask for any more.
“We have a wee chance against Hearts but we can’t get ahead of ourselves.
“It means there’s now something to play for come Saturday.
“Our boys come up here straight from their work and it’s testament to them they do so well.
“They don’t just turn up Tuesday and Thursday and play on a Saturday. They put in extra work.
