Dundee striker Danny Johnson could be on his way out of the club.
Courier Sport can reveal that Hartlepool United are interested in the former Motherwell man.
James McPake is looking to freshen his squad up in the last week of the transfer window and Johnson’s departure would release funds to wheel and deal.
Christophe Berra is one man linked with a move into Dens Park, having been made available for transfer by Hearts boss Daniel Stendel. Queen of the South are also keen on a loan.
The Dark Blues’ squad will also be boosted with the arrival of another midfielder on loan – Hibs’ youngster Fraser Murray. That deal has been agreed, The Courier can confirm, and he should be a Dundee player later this week.
Johnson, who has previously played for Hartlepool and is from the north east of England, has had a frustrating time at Dens Park.
Often a substitute, the 26-year-old has scored seven goals, five in the league.
McPake has already brought winger Ollie Crankshaw and Ross Callachan in on loan.
Other targets are Inverness Caley Thistle full-back Shaun Rooney and Ayr forward Alan Forrest.
