Dens Park has been given a “huge lift” by Saturday’s result and performance, according to Dundee’s Paul McGowan. The 2-0 win against Partick Thistle saw the Dark Blues control the match from start to finish in a manners seen all too rarely this season. And if they can maintain those standards, James McPake’s men will start to carry a Championship fear factor. McGowan said: “If we play like we did against Thistle, I don’t think a lot of teams will be able to live with us. “We were brilliant all over the pitch and we’re definitely gaining momentum at the right time of the season. “It’s Dundee United’s league to lose but we just need to kick on from here and make sure we get into the play-offs. “We’re going for second place. That’s the aim and we’re not that far behind Inverness and also on the tail of Ayr. “The whole place has been given a huge lift by this win. We know what we’re really capable of on our day.”
