Fabrizio Ravanelli struggles to pinpoint good memories of his days in Dundee

Fabrizio Ravanelli has revealed his lingering disappointment over his short spell at Dundee.

The Italian superstar, nicknamed “The White Feather”, signed a two-year deal at Dens Park in 2003, with controversial ex-Dee director Giovanni di Stefano driving the deal.

But just two months later, the Dark Blues plunged into administration, with Ravanelli amongst the high-earners kicked straight out the door.

The former Juventus, Middlesbrough, Lazio and Derby County striker played only six games for the Dee, scoring three goals – a fondly remembered League Cup hat-trick against Clyde.

But he told online football publication, the Athletic, his own memories of his time in Tayside are less pleasant.

“It was a funny situation,” said Ravenelli.

“I love Scotland because I love the football culture.

“When I was at Juventus, we played against Rangers and I just always remembered this incredible, fantastic, burning atmosphere.

“But then I arrived at Dundee. And it was not there. There was no chairman. No organisation. It was nothing.”

Asked whether he had any good memories of his short time at Dens, he added: “It is impossible to say about Dundee because there was no club, no nothing. A funny situation.

“I then had the chance to go back to Perugia and I returned to my village and scored a lot of goals.

“I tried to keep us in the division. I scored goals against Juventus, Roma and Siena. This was the best possibility for me.”
