Departing Dundee defender Paul McGinn is a target for ambitious English outfit Fleetwood Town.
Steven Pressley’s League One Fishermen are on the trail of McGinn as a potential replacement for Northern Ireland right-back Conor McLaughlin, who is expected to leave after Euro 2016.
McGinn, 25, has rejected the offer of a new deal to stay longer at Dens Park after enjoying two impressive years with Dundee since signing from Dumbarton.
Now the highly-rated full-back’s contract with the Dark Blues is set to expire in less then a fortnight, with Fleetwood weighing up a summer swoop to take him to Highbury stadium.
McGinn’s brother John recently made history by helping Hibs lift the Scottish Cup in their dramatic final win over Rangers at Hampden
Meanwhile, Ayr United manager Ian McCall is keeping an eye on what Dundee’s plans are for defender Daryll Meggatt, who is halfway through a two-year deal with the Dens Park side.
The 25-year-old started his career at Queen’s Park in 2010 and moved to Alloa two years later as one of Paul Hartley’s first signings when he was in charge of the Wasps.
Hartley brought Meggatt to Dens Park last summer but he has started only two games, with a groin injury holding back his progress.
McCall is looking to strengthen his squad as Ayr prepare for life in the Championship and a move for Meggatt is under consideration.
McCall said: “Daryll is a player I know and one I would be interested in talking to if he became available in some capacity and if he wanted to come here.”
