Dundee loan star Michael Duffy reckons he is prepared for all the Scottish Premiership can throw at him.
The Celtic starlet, on loan with the Dark Blues until the end of the season, enjoyed a fruitful spell with Alloa in the Championship last term.
Duffy feels matches against the likes of Hibs and Rangers – who the Derry-born attacker scored against – have given him an insight into the quality of football he can expect to experience this season.
Rather than fret over the step up in quality, the number 10 is looking forward to embracing the challenge.
He said: “I think it will definitely be a bit more challenging. I think the tempo will be quicker, but I feel ready for it.
“I’m used to playing at Ibrox and against Hibs last year, so that’s what this season will be like.
“I feel I coped well in those matches. This is my first season in the Premiership, so I’m hoping it goes well.”
Duffy impressed on his debut for Paul Hartley’s side, scoring in a 1-1 draw with former side Alloa last Friday.
Currently training with his new team-mates in the picturesque Austrian town of Obertraun, Duffy and co will begin their season proper against East Fife in the newly reorganised League Cup on July 16.
While he is enjoying getting to know his new colleagues, the forward is relishing the opportunity of getting his teeth into some competitive football.
He revealed: “It’s been a quick pre-season. When we get back from Austria we’re straight into the League Cup. But I like that.
“Pre-season games are good to get fitness, but it’s always better playing competitively.
“It’s been tough so far, with a lot of running, but it will all be worth it.
“I’m looking forward to playing some competitive football.”
