Dundee are understood to have rejected a £300,000 bid from Birmingham for prize asset Greg Stewart.
The front man, who has been a revelation since signing from part-time Cowdenbeath two years ago, is out of contract at Dens at the end of the season and the Dark Blues could lose him for nothing next summer.
Despite that, Dundee are desperate to hold onto the 26-year-old, especially after the recent departure of star striker Kane Hemmings to Oxford.
However, Birmingham boss Gary Rowett is keen to add to his side’s firepower and it is likely that the English outfit could return with an improved offer for Stewart later this week.
