Dundee could move to bolster their midfield with the signing of Aberdeen midfielder Stephen Gleeson.
With Glen Kamara set to complete his switch to Rangers before this transfer window closes and both Kharl Madianga and Elton Ngwatala being told they are surplus to requirements, boss Jim McIntyre is looking to add to his options in the middle of the pitch.
And 30-year-old Irishman Gleeson could be the man to do that.
He only joined the Dons from Ipswich Town last summer but has featured just 10 times this term and his last start was against St Johnstone back in September.
He’s made a couple of appearances from the bench since then and was an unused sub in the shock Scottish Cup draw at Pittodrie on Saturday.
Gleeson did get plenty game time during a 12-year career in English football, where he played most of his games for MK Dons and Birmingham City.
At this stage of his career, the Dubliner may be willing to make the move down the A90 to get back playing regularly again, though it looks unlikely any deal would be complete before the trip to Hearts today.
Aberdeen have been linked with a loan move for Celtic’s Lewis Morgan and it could be the Dons want someone in before they let Gleeson move on.
That means when they head for the capital, Dundee are likely to go with the same squad that was on duty for Saturday’s Scottish Cup draw with Queen of the South.
After impressing as a second-half sub against Queens, new winger Andy Dales could be handed his first start at Tynecastle.
Centre-half Darren O’Dea will again be suspended.
