As a January move to Rangers edges closer, midfielder Glen Kamara is set to miss Dundee’s Scottish Cup clash with Queen of the South.
Talks between the clubs have been ongoing since the Finnish international signed a pre-contract with the Ibrox club at the beginning of the month.
They are on course to bring his switch forward from the summer and that will see him sidelined today to prevent him being cup-tied.
Likewise, Rangers were not expected to use the players they are offering Dundee on loan as part of the deal when they faced Cowdenbeath last night.
Definitely in the Dark Blues squad today will be new signings Andy Dales and Andrew Nelson.
Dales arrived from Scunthorpe on Wednesday on a deal until the end of the season.
And sought-after Sunderland striker Nelson complete his move on a two-and-a-half year deal last night.
“Andrew had a number of clubs desperate to take him, but I think quite a few of them were loan deals,” said boss Jim McIntyre.
“There was a couple in England wanting to take him permanently but I think he sees his game suited to the Scottish game.
“I think when an SPFL club comes after you, a big club, then you sit up and take notice.”
Another of the January arrivals, Craig Curran, is set to start and that could see Nelson start on the bench.
While the escaping the relegation zone in the Premiership remains the No 1 priority, Jim is determined to do well in the cup.
“It’s so important we get a result. You want to start after the break with a positive result,” he said.
“It’s a tough game and we need to play at our best to win it.”
